Jason Kabo is in his third year with the Purdue men’s basketball program as the director of strength and conditioning.
Kabo joined the Boilermakers’ staff after spending 23 years as part of the UNLV strength and conditioning program, most recently as the director of strength and conditioning for Olympic sports and the last 18 years working with the Runnin’ Rebels men’s basketball program.
One of the top strength coaches in the country, Kabo has made a major difference in the strength and conditioning development of the Boilermakers, helping Purdue to a spot in the 2024 National Championship game. The Boilermakers have missed very few games to injury over the last two seasons.
Two years ago, Purdue missed just a handful of games to injury -- a result of Kabo’s guidance and teaching. The Boilermakers posted a 29-6 overall record, the Big Ten regular-season and tournament championship, a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a No. 1 national ranking for the second straight year.
A 1999 graduate of Slippery Rock (Pennsylvania) with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, Kabo started his career as a volunteer and intern in UNLV’s strength & conditioning department, he was promoted to assistant strength & conditioning coach and then assistant director in 2007. He was the Director of Strength & Conditioning overseeing all strength & conditioning for Olympic Sports.
He spent 18 seasons working with the men’s basketball program, and also worked directly with women’s basketball, volleyball, and women’s golf at UNLV.
Kabo has also been involved in various basketball camps, including the NBA Pre-Draft Camp. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the NSCA.
He and his wife, Sheri, have two daughters, Madeline and Reese.
